The Dashboard Widget Access page controls, role by role, which widgets people can see and which ones start out pinned on their dashboard. Use it to give each role a dashboard that fits their job.

Before you start
- The page is part of team management (Pro or Enterprise plan). Most widgets on it are Library reports, which come with the Library (Enterprise plan, or an add-on ClientSynq turns on for your organization).
- You need the Manage Widget Access permission (Roles page, Widget Permissions group) or Manage Roles. The owner always has both.
- Create your roles first. See Create roles and set permissions.
Open the page
- Open Settings (under your name, bottom left of the sidebar), then Widget Access (or Team & Roles, then Widget Access).
- Click Widget Access.
Widgets are grouped in tables, such as Advanced Analytics Reports, Tools and Report Tools. Each table has one column per role. Only widgets your plan includes are listed.
Turn widgets on or off for a role
- Tick or clear the checkbox where the widget's row meets the role's column. A ticked box means people with that role can see the widget.
- To change a whole column, click All or None under the role name. To change a whole row, click All or None next to the widget name.
- Click Save Changes.
A yellow note reminds you while you have unsaved changes. When the save works, you see Widget access settings saved successfully.
Widgets are on for every role until you turn them off. If a person's role allows a widget, they can see it. The owner sees every widget.
Pin a widget to a role's dashboard by default
- Next to a ticked checkbox, click the pin icon. It turns green, meaning Pinned to this role's dashboard by default.
- Optional: a small text box appears next to the pin. It holds the pin's default configuration. To open the pin on each member's own market, enter
{"market": "$homeMarket"}. - Click Save Changes.
$homeMarket is replaced with each member's home market, which you set on the Team Management page (see Set a home market). A member with no home market does not get that pin.
Pin a copy for each market
For widgets that are not full width, the role column also shows an each button.
- Click each to give the role one pinned copy of the widget per market, labelled and sorted by market. You see Default pin for each market added, and the button changes to show the number of copies, for example ×4.
- Click the number to remove those copies. You see Default pins removed.
These changes save immediately; you do not need Save Changes.
How role defaults become a person's pins
- A person who has never changed their own dashboard sees the default pins of their role.
- The first time they pin, unpin or rearrange anything, ClientSynq copies what they see into their own pins. From then on their dashboard is theirs, and later changes to the role's defaults do not affect it.
- People who have not changed their dashboard pick up new role defaults the next time they load it.
To learn how people pin and arrange widgets themselves, see Use your dashboard.
Tools in the sidebar
Some sidebar tools are tied to a widget on this page. Today that is Square Sales Import, listed in the Tools table. Clearing its checkbox for a role hides Square Sales Import from the sidebar for people with that role, even if their role has the Import to QuickBooks permission. The owner always sees it.
