The Audit Log page lists who did what in your organization: sign-ins, team and role changes, client changes, settings, QuickBooks changes made through ClientSynq, client payments, file activity and exports. Owners and administrators use it to check activity and answer questions about who changed something and when.
Before you start
- You need the Enterprise plan.
- To see the page, your role needs the View Audit Log permission (Roles page, Audit Log group). Without it, Audit Log does not appear under Settings.
- To download a CSV file, your role also needs Export Audit Log.
- Owners and the Administrator role have both permissions.
What is recorded
Each event belongs to a category. These are the names in the Category filter.
| Category | What is recorded |
|---|---|
| Sign-in and sessions | Signing in, signing out, sessions that end or are revoked, and changes to a person's account details |
| Team and roles | Team invitations sent, resent, revoked and accepted; members removed; roles created, changed, deleted, assigned and unassigned |
| Clients | Clients invited, reinvited, uninvited, suspended, reactivated, archived or deleted, and client sign-in resets |
| Settings and branding | Client payment settings, brand settings and logo changes, and custom domain and sending domain changes |
| Terms acceptance | When a team member accepts the ClientSynq terms |
| Invoices | Invoices pushed to QuickBooks (including from Box Counting), QuickBooks imports and their undo, Batch Modify runs, and Square Sales Import pushes |
| Payments | Client payments started, succeeded, pending or failed, and payment receipts sent |
| Files | File uploads, downloads, views, updates, shares, removed shares and deletions |
| Exports | Data Warehouse exports, analytics detail exports, Batch Modify CSV downloads, and audit log exports |
| ClientSynq support actions | Changes ClientSynq support makes to your organization, such as turning features on or off and custom domain or sending domain changes |
A sign-in or sign-out is recorded in every organization the person belongs to.
Read the log
- Open Settings (under your name, bottom left of the sidebar), then Audit Log.
- The newest events are at the top. Each row shows:
- When: the date and time, in your computer's time zone.
- Who: the person's email, and below it who they are: Team member, Client, System (automatic jobs) or ClientSynq support.
- What: a short name for the action, with the action code below it, for example "Invite sent" and team.invite_sent.
- On: the type of record the action was on and its ID, such as an invoice, file or client.
- IP: the IP address the action came from, when there is one.
- Rows with more details have an arrow. Click the row to expand it. The details show the values recorded with the event and the browser it came from. Card numbers, bank account and routing numbers, tokens, passwords and similar values are removed before an event is saved, so they never appear.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Load more to see the next 50 events.

Filter the log
- Under Filters, set any of these:
- From and To: a date range.
- Category: one of the categories above, or All.
- Person: anyone who appears in the log, or Anyone.
- Search: text to match in the record ID, record type, person's email or action code. For example, paste an invoice or file ID.
- Click Apply. Click Reset to clear every filter.
If nothing matches, you see "No events match these filters."
Export the log
- Set and apply the filters you want.
- Click Export CSV. A file named audit-log-YYYY-MM-DD.csv downloads with the events that match your filters, newest first.
- The file has the date and time, organization, who (type, email and ID), action, record type and ID, IP address, browser and details for each event.
- An export holds at most 50,000 events. If there are more, the last line of the file says the export was capped. Narrow the date range and export again for the rest.
- Each export is itself recorded in the log, under Exports.

Good to know
- Events are recorded for every organization, whatever its plan. If you move to the Enterprise plan, earlier activity is already in the log.
- ClientSynq does not delete audit log events on a schedule, and there is no setting for how long they are kept.
- You cannot edit or delete events in the log.
- The From and To dates cover whole days in UTC, so events near midnight may fall on a different day than the When column shows.
- A Batch Modify run that replaces invoices (Mode A) or changes invoice fields (Mode B) is recorded when it starts, with the mode and the number of invoices. Its results appear on the Batch Modify page, not in the log.
